I am CHEAP!!! Why spend $$$ on expensive art materials when you can recycle/reduce/reuse! I’d rather spend my money on Chocolate!

Here are a few tips I found along my painting journey and some I created by simply asking how can I use this…

If you have any tips you would like to share we would love to hear from you.

Travel Paint Palette can be costly. I clean out children’s paint palettes and put in my own pigments. Because I use color schemes/limited palette I don’t need many colors. I also get the palettes for free! I ask family & Facebook Friends for old palettes their children no longer use. I also LOVE Thrift stores and Church Yard Sales.

assorted children's paint palettes and pill box.

Pill boxes make great travel palette too!  They come in assorted sizes and sections. Clear or white work best but I don’t refuse a colored one if it is free!

This palette cost me $.35 US. I found both pieces at a thrift shop. The mini ice cube tray was $.25 and the top of a microwave hot dog dish was $.10! They fit together perfectly. I have also found other dishes that worked well. You just have to think outside the box. Make sure the palette sections will keep the paint separate.

IF they don’t come with a mixing tray I use small Styrofoam meat trays- light & white. OR plastic trays/plates. If the tray is clear I will paint the underside white.
